Why Viktor Tsoi and Kino aren’t popular outside Russia?
It can be really hard for foreign-to-the-US bands to get attention. Don’t know why in the age of the internet it’s still true but it is.
If I had to guess, UK would be the easiest to cross over. Then probably Canada and Mexico, but after that, I think it’s super super hard for bands to get their music to cross borders still.
Language barrier? The online translators are still in their infancy.
Also, most people are afraid to learn or experience new stuff, especially with the political sludge, propaganda and demonization of certain cultures seeping into everything.
