    Must be German.

We Germans wait at red lights, always.

It’s 3 o clock in the morning, no car passed by for an hour. A German will still wait at an red light.

I’m not German and it would never cross my mind to not stop at a red light, I’m pretty sure that’s the norm in every country, no?

Crossing on red as a pedestrian is fairly common in the UK. The whole concept of jaywalking is not really a thing there and legally there’s nothing that keeps you from crossing a red light as a pedestrian. It’s merely a recommendation according to the Highway Code.

I’m German and it makes perfect sense to me. Mandatory traffic lights are ultimately car infrastructure and suck for pedestrians. Prohibiting to walk because there’s a light bulb somewhere is a very stupid concept. It works perfectly fine so why not elsewhere?

The only time you need to stop as a pedestrian in the UK is when instructed by police.

TBF I really wasn’t thinking of pedestrians, though I should have because that’s the point of the whole post.

Oh, fair! Operating a two tonne machine and not sticking to the rules meticulously is irresponsible at best and fatal at worst.
