I’m not fond of it, but I kept the name of the group because it signifies what to expect. It’s more a continuation of tradition that people understand, sort of keeping the flame burning from a Reddit group .
I think he’s talking about “artporn.” I’m not sure why he chose to post it in a comment, but I think you shouldn’t take offense.
I think we can all agree artporn is not the best name, but it does represent how the idea differs from typical art sites: a modern approach to art where enjoyment and freshness is above all else. Where insights come from people who know about as much about art as everyone.
Posts are uplemmied based on enjoyment without politics, scandal, or hopefully any outside forces other than “Wow, I love this. I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before.”
If there is a better way to express that, I think we’d all be open to a change.
Also, hats off to crafty individual for making artporn (even tho he’s not fond of the name either), and posting so much great content. I am so grateful for all the work he put into this. He should be proud of all the joy this community has brought so many people.
Fair enough if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick, I was rather taken aback that anyone could infer anything pornographic from that linocut…Stand down red alert, lol
Nice. I actually just came to comments to say the same thing. I looked and I can’t find a basic “art” community. This is a nice piece, but why do we have to come to something called “artporn”. It’s confusing because what if a nude is posted here and then with this title people literally start posting what they believe is artistic pornography (you know, that highbrow shit).
Can we not have these ----porn iterations. it’s very juvenile.
Not sure what would be a better suffix, but there must be something

I’m not sure whether you’re a troll or not, but here’s some information for you…

From here
It’s an island, with fireworks, and wild flowers…If you want to see ‘porn iterations’, that’s all you, mate!

No worries. I think we’re all friends here, at least I’d like us to be.
which is a good example of why these porn based suffixes can cause problems.

Good point.
