Hey everyone 👋
Bean for Lemmy is now available on the App Store for everyone to download!
The app is free to use with a “Pro” plan that gives you access to some premium features like push notifications and multiple accounts, as well as a bunch of customisation options with more themes and app icons available.
Thank you to everyone who tested the app over the last month. I’m really happy with what I’ve made in a short period of time but… This is just the beginning and I have so much more planned including mod tools, kbin supported more!
I hope you’ll check it out and I look forward to hearing your feedback ❤️
Congrats on the launch!
Thank you! 😄
Just bought the pro license. Great job!
Thank you! I really appreciate the support <3
Is it open source?
No
Okay, thanks for answer.
Thanks man.
To everyone that enjoys the app, and especially those pleased enough to subscribe or purchase Lifetime Pro, don’t forget to rate and review the app in the App Store. Let’s help Steve build a user base!
Thank you!! Yes, App Store reviews are a massive help ❤️
Congratulations @steve228uk@lemmy.world !!! This is hands down my favorite Lemmy app!
Thanks so much! 😁
Swift or ReactNative?
React Native
Any plans to add a safari extension like Apollo used to have and Ivory currently has? I’m all for buying in on good software, but that’s one of the requirements for me to buy in.
It looks great!
A share extension? That should already be there, you might just need to turn it on.
If you used Apollo or Ivory you might remember they both have a Safari extension where they take links to instances and open them in the relevant app. Apollo would just open reddit links but Ivory takes a link to any Mastodon instance and opens it in the app. It would be awesome to have the same happen with lemmy instances. I think Memmy is planning on something like that
Oh, gotcha! Yeah, Ivory has “Open in Ivory”. Not a difficult thing to add, just was t something I thought about!
I’ll add it to the list of things to do 😊
When will android get a release?
iPad first then Android
This link is not loading for me.
I don’t know why that is, I was having trouble too. It’s just a link to Steve’s comment that says iPad before Android.
I’m not sure why people downvoted me repeating what Steve actually said…
This actually looks really polished
Thank you 😊
How long will the lifetime discounted option be available for? I will go for that once I hit payday at the end of the week.
It’ll be for at least a week! I really appreciate the support 😊
Don’t take it off until I can afford to pay for it! 😀
Pro lifetime purchase. This is the only Lemmy app I use making this well worth it for me.
Before I buy Pro, is there a timeline as to when image posts will mark as read correctly when the image is opened from the thumbnail? (Links seem to mark as read correctly when clicking the thumbnail)
Thanks!
I’ll get that fixed for 1.0.2 so within a couple of days.
Wonderful, thank you for the quick response! Love the block icons by the way!
Thank you! They were fun to make 😄
Here’s a bigger look at some of them

can Bean work with kbin accounts? I know the two are federated, just wondering since that’s my home instance 😛
At the moment Kbin doesn’t have an API in the stable release. When it does I plan to add support to Bean.
In the meantime you’ll need a Lemmy account and sub to Kbin Magazines from there.
Hopefully not much longer!
There is also the Artemis app for Kbin. I use Artemis for Kbin and Bean for Lemmy. They’re both incredible apps.
Are you on Artemis.camp? Because I’m trying to log in with my Kbin.social account and it doesn’t let me
I am. It’s due to the Kbin API not being ready. So the workaround is using the .camp for now
Congrats
I got a lifetime sub! https://postimg.cc/SndY1G6M/f8b6b53f
It definitely wasn’t cheap (considering the several open source free lemmy apps), but seeing how fast this app has evolved + your commitment shows that this is gonna be a serious app (and not a side experiment that is suddenly canned).
This is also exactly why I chose lemm.ee as my instance, I’m looking for serious and stable platforms. Commitment quickly runs out for free apps, as I’ve seen many times before. Anyways congrats on the appstore release!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate the support! ❤️
Downloaded, and finally got to pay you some money! Thanks for all of your hard work on this app.
