CHUD is an acronym for cannibalistic humanoid undergroud dwellers. It’s a reference to movie, but for whatever reason CHUD became the slang term for reactionaries. You’ll every now and then see “hog” used the same way.
Generally, there are two types of CHUDs:
People who were popular in high school and bullied people, and being a CHUD is how they can relive their glory days as the cool kids forever
People who were bullied by group one, and decided to get their revenge on the world by becoming bullies themselves.

It’s sort of the equivalent of how “gammon” is used in the UK.
It also serves as a good alternative for “white trash” without the classist baggage it comes with.
Although I’m getting the feeling gammons are going to start calling themselves gammons as a term of endearment.
