I love the fizzy blast that this has (aldehydes, I think?) it just keeps on fizzing away as it smoothes into sandalwood creaminess…
One of the best from Chanel, and also one of the first proper fragrances I ever bought, good times!
Super! Thank you for sharing this aromatic treasure! I love the old Chanel classics. My grandmother first introduced me to Chanel and Guerlain perfumes…my sentimental favorites. Are there other Chanel classics that you enjoy?
I quite like Cuir de Russie also, but don’t know how the modern edp/edt compares to the original, I did have the edp of chanel no5 but don’t wear that now Is Coromandel and the original Les Exclusifs line considered ‘classics’ now? I think they were mid 2000’s, so quite ancient considering how tastes and fragrances evolve
I tend to prefer modern perfumes (probably because they’re easier to find and don’t cost astronomical amounts- imagine falling in love with a vintage perfume and hoarding the tiniest bit until it’s all gone). But I do like retro type fragrance, Papillon’s Salome has a ‘vintage’ feel to it in that it’s quite a musk bomb, which I suppose is viewed as ‘old fashioned’ when compared to mass market, popular ‘clean’ scents
I did try mitsouku parfum and a few others from Guerlain to see what all the fuss was about (not original vintage, but the modern creations) they didn’t do anything for me, but it was nice to experience them to see where it all began (from a modern point of view)
Don’t they have an exhibition at The Louvre of lots of vintage perfumes? It would be quite something to have a sniff around some of The Grande Dames of yesteryear
