Since Lemmy doesn’t have a lot of content yet, I primarily browse all. Since there are a lot of active communities in all that I’m not interested in (different language/NSFW, etc), it would be really handy to be able to block them from the ellipsis menu. Right now you have to go I to the community and find the block option there. Similarly for users.
I have a filter button at the bottom of my ellipsis menu that lets me block the community, user, or instance.
Oh wow, I didn’t realize filter == block 🤦
It isn’t strictly equivalent, as filter only works on Sync, whereas block is a Lemmy account feature. If you only use Sync though, filter is great.
To add to this, you can filter instances, but you can’t (yet) block them.
That computes. I hope instance blocking comes to lemmy as a feature eventually 🤞
This is good to know, ty.
It’s called Filters not block, I can elipsis menu on this post, go to filters and filter your posts away
Thanks!
In addition to what others have said about filtering certain posts/users from the ellipsis menu, you can also preemptively filter domains/instances/users/keywords in the settings:
Very cool, thanks for the tip!
I agree, I especially can’t stand the communities who just dump entire archives of reddit posts. Would be nice to block those communities easily
What ones are doing this?
“Am I the Asshole” comes to mind
Tnx
