Ok Raptors fam here…are we having trouble keeping a conversation going because it’s midsummer or because we’re not getting reason to hope for an interesting season ahead?

Personally, I’m seriously wondering if there’s any point to keeping our SN and TSN subscriptions.

Will I really be willing to invest my viewing time in a season that promises to be no better than last and without the exciting of seeing a crop of new players develop? Seriously, a couple of seasons ago I was more invested in watching Banton and the others in 905 games. I just feel weary thinking about taking in the main team in the fall.

How are others feeling?

Just not enough to talk about. New coaching staff will provide changes but nothing we can see until the season starts. Players are the same as last year, minus the obvious. It’s just “wait and see what happens” right now. Plus it seems like lots of the teams around us are getting better while we are just kinda meandering so it’s not an exciting time until we have something to peek our interest.

The question is whether there’s any realistic expectation of something ahead that will peak interest…

      As you said,

Players are the same as last year, minus the obvious.

This seems like exactly the opposite to a strategy to reengage fans.

Last summer there was so much hype around so many of the Raptors players being at the Rico Hines Runs and how good they looked. Then comes the regular season. Masai even said the offence was painful to watch at times (which was putting it lightly [“at times”]) and based on the eye test, I’d say we were bottom 5 in clutch performance. I won’t know how excited I am about this season until I watch some regular season games and see how the team actually operates. Also, most Raptors content on Reddit (if we’re comparing ourselves to that) in the summer is internet silliness, like memes and what players are posting on their social media accounts or doing in their spare time, as opposed to sports talk
