Dude, you don’t know what you’re talking about. So as a South African, let me help.

Yes, racially motivated attacks by white people against black people do happen. Yes, racially motivated attacks by black people against white people do happen. We have a very painful history, and some ass hats still either long for the “good old days” or still want retribution.

Farm murders are a symptom of farmers being isolated (far away from help given that they live on a farm), perceived owners of wealth, and sometimes viewed as treating their workers unfairly. Needless to say that when crime does occur (it is not as common as the media makes it out to be, and falls well under the statistical norms in South African context), it tends to be violent.

Crime is a problem that many south Africans face. Not just the white ones, or the farmers. In fact, you are more likely to be raped, robbed, murdered or some combination thereof in a rural or township setting than you are compared to being a farmer. Their workers are often times victims of more crime than they are given the massive poverty stricken nature of many of South Africa’s lower class workers.

South Africa has a problem, but it’s nothing like the blatant racism in the US. So here’s the thing, if you don’t know what you’re talking about, shut the fuck up.

You are of course correct. Especially as stayistics go. Everone has their own experiences and perceptions though. I should have expanded more, but I’m fuck tired from working night shifts. As I mentioned though, your mileage.may vary, and those affected would better be able to explain. I’m lucky in that it has not directly effected me, but then durban is pretty chill. Except when it’s not.
