  Here are some possible reasons
  
  Nvidia is more popular in general
  
  Gamers (used to see Nvidia perform better)
  
  CUDA (which is the de facto standard for AI/parallel computing)
  
  Many people come from windows
  
  Nvidia kinda works, with proprietary drivers and xorg
