DKC3 is a good game but it’s definitely one I probably won’t be 100%ing again any time soon. I think it was cool they tried to make the overworld more engaging but i didn’t find the banana birds and puzzle aspects added much to the game. I also thought the level design was more disjointed compared to the smooth, almost speedrun like quality of the first two games

Obviously going for 100% (or 103% or whatever it was) this time. Lost world is kicking my ass. That fucking rocket level…

I absolutely love the soundtrack in this game. DKC2 is arguably better, but Eveline Fischer’s soundtrack is moody, expressive and sounds incredible with a good sound system like the one my SNES and MiSTer are hooked up to.

Dave Wise’s re-done GBA soundtrack for it is a rare misstep for him imo - happy jaunty bouncy music when being chased by murderous saws? No. But I understand entirely how Eveline’s soundtrack wouldn’t have worked on the GBA - extremely low freq heavy. But yeah, that’s why the game I’m playing is the SNES original!

Speaking of GBA ports, the DKC1 port is actually in my opinion superior to the original (aside from resolution, sadly) once you apply this patch to the ROM to restore the SNES colours: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4051/ then you get a lot closer to the SNES original, with all the QOL updates that DKC2 onwards introduced, such as tracked bonuses and collectables.
