Ukraine's forces appear to have broken through some entrenched Russian defences in the south after Volodymyr Zelenskyy hinted at success on the frontline.

Staromaiorske is on the Velyka Novosilka axis of the Southern Front.

But the real prize is 2 towns further south, i.e. the similarly named Staromlynkiva, because that town is a crossroads.

    Apparently they’ve reached the second line of defense running across the south. Hopefully they’ll punch through that too and split the russians down the middle
