    There are/were non-white cultures that did have issues with queer people as well (and memes about transgender priestesses are… highly reductive). Patriarchy was widespread and arguably universal, but with significant local differences. And attitudes towards gender and sexuality are going to be affected by family structure, which is going to be affected by the mode of production and its development.

    So like yes it’s white supremacist because capitalism and its ideologies emerged in Europe, but it’s not hard to imagine a counterfactual Earth where Song leftists are lamenting Han supremacist attitudes towards trans people and talking about the revered European travesty.

    But yes ultimately queerness destabilizes power structures.
