I’ll soon gift the game to my 10 year old. She’s never heard of it and i’ve never played it. What should I know/do/?

Choosing a farm type at the beginning is pretty important. I chose the basic one and had to go to mines slay monster to get minerals important for advancing in the game. Not my idea of chill time.

My kid selected a farm that had a small field where minerals spawned every couple of days and didn’t have to do the boring grinding.

After a week or so of subtle hints, my wife hopped on the switch and started her own farm!

Unfortunately, she hasn’t finished her first day yet, and if I sign in to my own farm, I don’t think it’ll save the little bit she started.

So, I’m just staying out of the valley for now as not to discourage her from playing.

I really want to start a new farm again to experience it all again! It’s been too long since I’ve played but I miss the cost vibes

Have you always been able to hop around and aim while holding the watering can button, or was that added in the last update?

I just accidentally discovered this, and it blew my mind.

Started a week ago for the very first time, still in spring and I think I’m doing way too little farming. I think I’m good friends with Lewis so far, but the fact that he didn’t actually announce the winning score in the egg hunt makes me a little suspicious that it might be rigged. Oh, and Alex hates me for some reason.

    Any tips without spoiling much?

EDIT: I’m also finding it a little difficult to find people who request stuff, still getting used to where to expect everyone to be.

You are probably not farming to much. It’s easy to over plant and have to spend most of your energy watering.

You can plant more when you have more levels in farming, better tools and, sprinklers. Parsnips are quick growing and a good source of xp.

You will want to start working the mine for ore to make sprinklers. Energy is your big limiter there. Use forrage for energy and avoid mining rocks that don’t have what you want.

Killing monsters has a chance to spawn a ladder and the fewer there are the more likely a rock spawns a ladder. You can get much deeper on your energy by fighting before mining.

Don’t ignore the community center. The unlocks are very helpful.

Most villagers hit the salon on Friday so it’s a good time to say high to everybody. For finding a villager at a particular time check the wiki or install the map mod that adds the villagers.

Been playing quite a bit recently after not touching it for a year or so. Hit my usual wall right around the end of Year 2 with marriage and the Mines done and just the rabbit’s foot left in the Community Centre. I’ll see if I can finally get deep into the Desert this time.

Started playing on crossplay between PC and Android, but the android client would consistently freeze while mining rocks in the mine or chopping trees on the farm. It’s not officially supported yet, so happy to wait for the update. Otherwise it worked really well.

Currently on pause while I redesign my farm. Winter is almost here (fall 24, Year 1), and I want a solid plan on how my farm will look for midgame.

The interior is done. Now just gotta redo the exterior (again).
