A small convection toaster oven or instapot can turn off and the heat evaporates quickly, so you can just leave it and it won’t burn.
Instapot, or similar, is the thing you want if you’re forgetful. Set cooking time with an auto off and warm function.
I’ve never not set a timer, so it’s mostly me not hearing the timer because video games.
