Bold move. I don’t think many people using TikTok can read :)

Social media platforms (and most modern entertainment, really) fight for your time.

If you’re scrolling Twitter you’re not on TikTok. If you’re playing the Nintendo Switch you’re not on TikTok. If you’re on TikTok you’re not on YouTube.

So what ends up happening is a board of directors ask “why is this user on Twitter and not TikTok?” somebody answers “Well, we serve short videos and they were looking for text microblogs, these are two different categories” and the directors go “well then let’s add text microblogs”.

In fact, the directors could be forced to do so - if they are made aware of one reason their company isn’t capturing even more of the user’s time, but don’t act on it, investors might consider this as intentionally sabotaging their growth.

Seems like a good time to remind everyone of Musk’s ties to China. Kill Twitter so the TikTok can take it’s users, get some nice political kickbacks for his Tesla operations in China.

Tinfoil hat theory? Sure, absolutely, but it makes about as much sense as any of Musk’s moves with Twitter lately.

I just pick the easy answer of Elon Musk being an arrogant prick that overestimates how smart he is and keeps tripping over his own ego.

Did China make him call that rescue diver a pedo too? At some point, we must accept that Elon is not a mega-smart puppeteer—just a rich person with more money than sense, but a huge desire to be loved.
