Edit: We made it to the App Store!!!
Hey, so this is just going to be a quick post discussing my frustration with app review and how I am hoping beyond hope that someone here will be able to give me some insight on the process and what I might be doing wrong.
Lemmios keeps getting rejected by Apple for “Users cannot have a mechanism in the app to enable or disable access to NSFW content; enabling or disabling NSFW content should be done through the service website” and I am extremely confused about what they might be referring to since I believe that is how Lemmios currently works. If anyone has any ideas I will try them since this experience has severely lowered my motivation to work on Lemmios.
For some context my current note to the reviewers is “NSFW content will only be shown after it is enabled on lemmy.world, which has not been done for the testing user, even though there is an option to blur it that option will do nothing since no NSFW content will be shown to the test user (unless app review goes to the website to enable it). There is also an attachment to show how NSFW content is labeled as such if the current user has already enabled it on the website. Also, to block a user, you have to go to that user’s page and tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner and tap “Block”. Thank you!”
I’m no expert, but I think they don’t want that toggle in-app and they want it on a website in a web browser. Like your app opens a chrome page to toggle the option.
I agreed, maybe have the user profile (where I assume that setting is) open on a webpage, rather then be in app. Might help ?
I mean it is not in the app at all, the closest thing the app has is turning on and off nsfw blurring, but I have just resubmitted a new build that doesn’t show that setting until NSFW is enabled on the account to hopefully fix their brains seeing the word “NSFW” next to a toggle and insta-clicking deny
Dont stop man, this app is becoming the new Apollo for me.
Hey I haven’t man we made it to the App Store!
Fantastic bro!! Downloading it now!
As an Android user, this is just a thought, as I can access this account setting from within the app I’m using (edit profile) allowing access to toggles, for NSFW, hide read posts etc…this particular app also being available on iOS. This ability to make changes is available on most of the android apps I have tried…
They’re basically saying that it needs to work the same way Reddits mobile applications did. You have to access a website to be able to enable NSFW stuff, and it’s not supposed to be done through the app itself. I’m not sure why other than maybe Apple being looked at for potentially offering porn in their native app? Makes the barrier of entry for viewing porn higher and essentially not accidental?
Oh yeah I totally get that but my issue is that’s the way my app worked and they were still denying it, I removed the “blur nsfw” setting from the settings view of users who had not enabled nsfw on the website and they finally accepted it so i won’t question anything now ig?
Be sure to keep in mind that every reviewer you get may be different, have a different view on things and may focus or have different interpretations about how things are supposed to be.
There are plenty of other apps in the App Store that have Blur NSFW, so I don’t necessarily think that’s it. It’s kinda one of those luck of the draw type things unfortunately!
Yeah, I get it, it’s just frustrating that they wouldn’t tell me that’s what the actual issue was and they just kept giving me the code (5.2.1 or something) with no explanation of why it was broken in my app
I can’t believe you people use apple products with this crazy nonsense. You’re on Lemmy because of what reddit’s doing to its API, but you’re ok with only being allowed to use apps that are approved by apple directly? Come on people
