No update about this yet, but they have added info about how to edit your hosts file to get access:
We’re probably going to wait this one out. We considered putting up a new domain but there are implications with third party services that make it not a trivial swap. In the meantime, if you know how to tweak your hosts file use: 45.33.107.166
If you did this, don’t forget to remove it again:
⚠️ If you do edit your hosts file, please remember to remove all the lines after domain is restored.
Although we typically hold an IP for a while, it can change if we update our back-end infrastructure.

That reminds me… Is the entire .io domain still planning to end or did that get resolved?
The top-level domains for the soviet union still exist, so io isn’t gonna go, especially since it’s so popular
I wish people would stop saying this. That was a political decision from decades ago back when the internet was far smaller. It has no bearing on today where the political situation here is completely different and not only that but the internet is far larger and the ICANN are far more powerful.
Back in the 1980s they didn’t have the political clout to really be able to enforce anything. They just have to basically accept it as a fader complete, not so anymore
From what I read, the policy of removing domains when the county stops existing was directly based on what happened with .su so that never happens again.
Don’t think it was ever “planned” to end, it’s just unsure how Mauritius will handle the ccTLD, right?
Mauritius won’t get the rights to .io, it’s already held by a British corporation. Unless there’s some kind of change since then.
Yeah, I didn’t get a good wording there. I just mean is it still up in the air?
It is, all I found was this from October: https://domainnamewire.com/2024/10/09/io-domain-names-arent-going-away/
