Im against breed bans in general, but chihuahuas suck. Let’s make chihuahuas illegal.

Honestly, I feel like we should ban most dog breeding. So many dogs are either bred in ways that make them live unhealthy lives, or are bred for purposes that are prone to abuse. Every time I see a pitbull having to be put down or a pug having trouble breathing, it makes me both incredibly sad for the dogs, and angry at the people who selective bred these problems into existence in the first place.

We should probably just work on bad breeding practices for a lot more animals. And as far as most Chihuahuas being shitty it’s usually down to the owner. Proper and good training can make a world of difference.

Chihuahuas aren’t even the worst of the bunch.

Frenchie’s, Bulldogs and pugs first. Then the violent breeds, then the Chihuahuas.

I also think Huskys need serious warning labels for people wanting to own them domestically. They’re notoriously difficult and will destroy your house if under stimulated. You basically need a stay at home owner and two walks a day to stop them eating your couch. People are like “awww they’re so cute the way they awoo” but God damn they’re stubborn and pig headed.

I have a husky and never experienced any of that except the awoo woo woo. He might be a outlier but he is one of the most relaxed dogs I’ve ever owned. As long as he is by my side he is chill, and he never destroyed any furniture either. Do I have the world’s chillest husky? I do live in the country and he can come and go as he pleases and I take him on walks and camping a lot so maybe we should have a warning for people getting dogs that they need to take care of them…?

Well if he gets bored in your house he can just go outside instead of tearing up your house. But not every dog can or is allowed to go outside when they want to.

So you live in one of those situations where a husky makes sense.

      • My husky is also chill af. She was destructive at first (would chew up shoes), but damn near any dog can be until you break them of separation anxiety. The most difficult thing with her is keeping a handle on her when out for a walk and a cat or another dog crosses her path. She gets excited and wants to play/give chase and I gotta reign her in with the big handle on the harness. She’s also far less bullheaded than my chihuahua mix. He’s a willful little shit and it takes twice as much direction to get him to obey.

Disagree, we should ban unethical breeders. If we want to ban breeds, we should start with the ones designed for felony bloodsport before any other breeds.

I wouldn’t have a purebred dog of any sort. We’ve only ever got mixy ones from the shelter. But have met some truly chill Chihuahuas, some very friendly pitties, good examples of most designer dogs. Not cocker spaniels - they’ve all been assholes.

I like bigger dogs but if you aren’t going to relentlessly train your dog, a tiny ankle biter like a Chihuahua is safer.

I think the ones that should be banned are the Frenchies/Pugs. Don’t think that is an unpopular opinion though. Poor things can’t breathe and are too thick to move freely.

Yeah brachiocephalic (sp?) Of all sorts should be outlawed. It’s just cruel. I guess my true problem with chihuahuas is that I’ve met a lot but never a trained one. They have all been as mean as it gets.

Where do you live? Around here it’s a lot of old Cuban grandpas who have the Chihuahuas and they are pretty good dogs. I mean, good for such small dogs anyway.

  • I have literally never had the experience of a bad chihuahua that didn’t also come with a terrible owner and don’t know where the hate for the dogs comes from. Owners of chihuahuas that know how to properly train dogs don’t have shitty chihuahuas. I’m also not aware of them having serious health issues due to breeding like pugs and bulldogs have.
