It’s so funny seeing the reaction to this on reddit. Literally the only place I have seen international men’s or women’s day mentioned.

Every year they complain about international women’s day and there will he a front page post that boils down to “happy international women’s day now go make me a sandwhich”

And then today when those exact same people have multiple posts on the front page talking about how it’s fucked up nobody celebrates international men’s day.

To quote Jordan klepper “you don’t even understand the irony do you… I fucking love it.”

Really? Usually I hear a lot about Women’s day, and it’s not uncommon for women to get candy and a nice letter from people. It’s less common for men to receive it, but I know some people who received it.

These people love to complain, but do nothing to help other men.

International women’s day was one of the most important socialist bloc holidays and is still celebrated in the former DDR states and Soviets, as well as some global south countries.

In socialist Poland it was a major holiday at 8 march. Its importance waned under capitalism but its still very public and basically everyone i know participate in it at least on perfunctory level.

We have a dedicated international men’s day? Isn’t every day men’s day in our patriarchal society?
