Pogrom btw

Edit: The translation and perpetrators are accurate, but there are suggestions this did not happen in Amsterdam but in Israel. I removed the mention of Amsterdam from the title just in case.

Re-edit: Ai is pretty cool. It was in Amsterdam.

The Guardian has a story with the sequence of events and more video of multiple incidents. Maccabi (the Israeli team) supporters started burning Palestinian flags, vandalized a taxi, and started chanting about “let the IDF win, we will fuck the Arabs” and “there are no more children in Gaza.”

Stuff like that went on for a while, police made a couple of arrests, then after the soccer match things got nastier. 5 people hospitalized (don’t know who), Amsterdam natives demanding to know if people were Jewish and to see passports, Israeli supporters setting off fireworks and using makeshift weapons pulled from a construction site.

World leaders are calling it a targeted attack against Jews and shameful. No word in the article about leader reactions to what the Israelis did.

Edit for an important P.S. - Please don’t lump all Jews into this. There are many Jews that are at least as fervent in their opposition to what’s going on in Israel as any of us. Probably a lot more so because of the personal stakes. I think it’s super important to support them because they’re fighting from inside the culture. Israel does not equal all Jews - please don’t be antisemitic.

Don’t forget they jeered during the minute of silence for the victims of the floods in Spain, who had nothing to do with any of this either. Just ridiculously disrespectful, and fans have been banned for less egregious shit. Yet I haven’t heard anything from UEFA.

It’s weird how UEFA, next to FIFA one of the most corrupt organizations on the planet, will still be aware enough of their public image, to not want to be called antisemitic.

And then we have Israeli leaders straight up attempt to silence statements like this, claiming that it is blatantly antisemitic. Even though

      1. It only describes what has happened
      2. The group of semitic people includes both Jews and Arabs.

But being called an antisemite, by the head of the Israeli government, makes every western politician cower in fear.

Us government here: we believe this is completely unacceptable behavior, and codem the actions of these people. So in response we will give Israel $30,000,000,000 and kindly ask them to use nicer words in their chants.

Disgusting behavior. They were so lucky to be saved by police cause they deserved to get bashed. I hope they are all banned from the country. There is a video of them singing the same song as soon as they land which shows they feel no shame or learnt nothing.

They’re much closer to the ICC than Israel, the song in and of itself sounds like a confession of crimes against humanity.

Holy cow. I plugged that into a translator and it’s awful. Every time I think Israel can’t go lower something like this comes out. I can’t believe they have sung this song for almost a decade. I was going to post parts of it here to save people the effort of translating it, but it’s so hateful I don’t want to be responsible for that.

Here is Chat GPT translation and contextualization to me:

: Here’s an English translation and explanation of the text you provided, which is indeed hateful and provocative:

Translation: You play the extremists, sing songs about the Holocaust And even think it’s funny to deny the State You are prostitutes for the Arabs, we are ashamed of you At the end of the day, Gate 5, we will f*** you We will f*** you, and then we will drink your blood And in the town square, we will hang every communist who comes here We will take your girls, who love to party When we rape them, we will shout: today, death to Hapoel! Today, death to Hapoel…

Context and Analysis: This text appears to be a highly aggressive and provocative chant, likely linked to extreme rivalries in sports culture, particularly football (soccer) in Israel. Such chants are often used by ultra groups or fanatical supporters to express deep hostility towards opposing teams or their supporters—in this case, targeting “Hapoel,” a well-known sports club.

The language used is explicitly violent, sexist, and incites hatred, demonstrating how some chants can cross from intense competition into dangerous expressions of prejudice and violence. If used in real-world settings, such chants contribute to an atmosphere that promotes aggression, intolerance, and harmful behavior in and outside stadiums.

This type of content, while reflective of a certain subset of fan culture, raises concerns about boundaries in sportsmanship, hate speech, and the impact on broader societal norms. If you’d like, I can provide further insight into how this type of rhetoric is handled legally or culturally.

Exactly. If it’s true, it’s horrific—but it would also be incredibly easy to mistranslate these words on purpose.

Why make the land uninhabitable for anyone to live. And who gave the right to nuke earth? Even damaging forests was considered a war crime during ancient days, and wars were fought against those that harmed the planet. Now people are just carelessly using the word “nuke”.
