There’s a new buff called Firebound that gives you increased Recovery and Super Regen when close to allies.
Also, when you kill the carriers they drop 3 balls that you barely have enough time to throw 2 let alone 3.
Seems like Bungie wants us to run together this year instead of sitting in a corner camping enemy spawns.
Is there a scaling benefit to wearing n+1 pieces of Solstice armor to getting leaves, outside of the event triumphs requiring a full set? For example, if I only wear just the class item and patrol a Heroic EDZ public event, will I get the same amount of leaves for wearing only one piece vs. wearing all 5?
Wearing all 5 I seem to get a few more silver leaves than my friends wearing one. For a full altar of sorrows I was getting between 3-6 more leaves than my friends just wearing one.
The big difference is when converting the leaves to ashes in the bonfire bashes at max ignitions you get 20 ashes per piece of solstice armor equipped.
FYI For really quick silver leaves with a fireteam and some weapon leveling you can load into the first lightfall mission from the classic replay icon and go all the way to the end. When you get to the drop pods have no one get in and one person switch characters and rejoin and then everyone get in the drop pods and you hit the ground the person that left can reload the checkpoint and everyone rejoin. you’re at the drop pods and can repeat. 15 silver leaves per run wearing 5 pieces + 12% weapon level per run. Won’t be surprised if Bungie eventually patches that or disables it somehow
No idea. I was wondering that myself. I think you just need to have the armor equipped when the activity completes to get the mats though.
So ideally set up a loadout and just switch to it before the activity ends.
Alters of Sorrow full run (tier 1 to 5) just netted me about 20 leaves wearing only the class item, which isn’t bad when there are 5 people in there with you as it goes fast. Might be a good time to level crafted weapons and farm leaves, and it got me 2 of the triumphs for kindling real quick while playing with Osteo (rapid kills).

Okay, but you could also just clear it faster by spreading out. The buff is for the in-between parts.
This is my first Solstice, but the guides say you get more ash-per-leaf conversion ratio the more balls you dunk in the fire (20 max?). So if you stick together, everyone gets a ball to dunk faster than you doing one champ solo and trying to run back to get a second ball before it times out and disappears, depending. At least that seemed to be how it felt during my bonfire run…
You get more balls if you spread out. If you struggle to solo a spawn, that’s he problem.
Max is 30 this year. Assuming you have at least 20 silver leaves and max ignitions you’ll net 20 ash per piece of solstice gear equipped. So if you have all 5 on you’ll get 100 silver ash. You can just equip all 5 pieces once the final boss spawns in, you don’t have to have them equipped.
Sticking together is generally the best strategy, especially playing with randoms. Once you get the throws down there’s only two spots where you can’t throw the ignition charges from where they drop (the alleys to the left and right of where the boss spawns) so when I’m playing with my friends we’ll sometimes split up a bit and I’ll clear an area by myself when I know I can throw all 3 in myself before rejoining them
You can get all 3 as long as the wave spawns around the central area. Aim slightly above the bonfire and it should track to it when you throw.
I’ve only played a few runs so far, but I really like that there’s a reason to stick together this time around. Clearing waves of enemies isn’t too much of an issue (hint: just equip Graviton Lance if you’re having trouble), but some of the spawn locations are annoying to throw from.
Yeah the back left corner from spawn you can probably get off all 3 orbs since it’s close to the fire. The spawns further back you’ll need some help.
Last years event was so brain dead just having each person camp a ship while it spawned dudes.
