I remember that way back around 2015 the double XP boost used to stack, so you could get a 4x multiplier, but I don’t think that I’ve ever got a triple.

That’s how I noticed it too, the first chest is 1.5x, second 2x, and third 3x.
Also, completing a level doesn’t give you a boost anymore for going legendary on a level
