Personally, my favorite is the gyro on button hold, bound to the aiming button, as Breath of the Wild originally did. I’m personally peeved about the always-on implementation on Splatoon though, because any slight tremor in your hand means your aim will suffer. (At least they had the decency of adding a dedicated recenter button.) And how do you go three games in a row not allowing the players to correct the vertical aim with the stick? What in the world is the rationale for that?

Gyro on touch whether a Steam Controller, PS, or a Deck’s capsense sticks

Gyro on ADS is not bad but is more of a third person adventure game thing than anything suitable for multiplayer

I played Deathloop with flick stick and always on gyro because its native gyro support lacks any gyro button assignment outside of ADS, so I can settle for that in a pinch even though it takes different reset methods on X and Y axes

Gyro always on, flick stick, capacitive thumb to disable (if my thumb is on the stick, I’m either ratcheting or flicking)
