I spent like 5 mins writing this crap that wasn’t even good in context but I ain’t throwing it out even if the op is gone
consider that you have an epipen, you own it, it is your property, someone is dying of anaphylaxis in front of you… would you let them use YOUR epipen to save their life?
yes? what kind of person wouldn’t right?
now consider the person is dying but you are not there to give permission to use the epipen, they decide to use it anyway rather than die. They have violated your property rights. Will you sue them for this despite the fact that you just agreed that you would have happily let them use it had you been there at the time? is the principle of asking permission more important than the persons life?
ok you wouldn’t sue? you agree that human life takes precedence over the strictest following of the law? what kind of person wouldn’t after all?
now consider that the person is dying, you are present with an epipen but this time you don’t own the pen… will you let the person use it or let them die to protect the property rights of the pen’s owner? would the owner say no? what was your answer to what kind of person wouldn’t?
ok you violated another person’s property rights for expedience probably on the assumption that the owner would be ok with it
consider that a person is dying, you have the epipen and the owner on the phone explicitly telling you to not give them the pen, further more they are asking you to toss the pen in the bin but not allow it to be used now are you going to protect the owners property right over human life?
the owner just elaborated over the phone that the reason they don’t want to allow their pen to be used to save a life is because through convoluted tax evasion reasons it’s more profitable for them to destroy the pen then sell it to the dying person. it’s still their property right?
the person dying is a worker in the epipen factory, they made the very pen that could save their life. they are having an allergic reaction from the food in the factory cafeteria. The factory owner who owns the pen decided to allow allergens in the cafeteria beyond the permissible amount in order to save money. at this point this is barely even an allegory anymore, you either support the legal structure of a machine for killing people or you don’t.
Wolves don’t have a concept of “property”, they only have a concept of access. All property is a transformation of access into something that is more easily whipped up into a conflict or used to deprive someone.
all all the time
