    The comments on HN seem a bit envious of the original author with how they’re trying so hard to invalidate them.

    Anecdotal.

    Guy graduated college and went to do two years volunteer work in Africa.

    Came home and talked to some of his old college classmates. One of them told him that he could be making $100,000.00 a year to start. He did the math and decided to take the job.

    Now he has a $100,000.00 a year job. He lives modestly and supports two volunteers in Africa.
