That’s interesting since the level they’re at already has me getting their content from other sources.

I watched an Amazon show for the first time since ads started a while ago. 3 unskippable ads is insane for a service I’m paying for.

So I’m back to the high seas myself.

No ads for paid service. None, zero, zilch. This is a hard line we should all take.

But here’s the thing, you’re not actually paying for that service it was tacked on with Amazon prime. I don’t know when or where people suddenly decided that they were owed this but that’s not how it works. I just consider it a very extended free trial

It wasn’t “tacked on” because Amazon is generous. They did the math and decided it would help them make more profit by selling more Amazon prime memberships.

No one feels they are owed. They feel it is not worth it to pay for ads.

How can it be a free trial if you’re paying for a membership? Just to make them more money by watching ads?

Your comment sounds like something a marketing team would say.

But my point stands. It was added as a bonus. It’s not owed, it wasn’t apart of the deal signed with Amazon. You’re paying for a membership it comes with faster or free shipping and a guarantee of those two things. It has nothing to do with the streaming service

It has everything to do with the streaming service. Because they can’t sell as many prime memberships without it.

It’s not a bonus. They weren’t selling as many memberships as they wanted so they had to make the deal better by adding the service.

              No streaming service. No membership.

That’s OK, Jeff. I watch all your content for free without ads.

    Suck it.

I recently watched a show on Prime and it was unwatchable. Like watching those ad supported free internet channels where they jarringly cut to commercial mid sentence with a huge volume change that rips you out of the immersion. At least when it is a 20 year old show you can almost excuse that, but I really hate it on a paid subscription. Oh well, back to the unofficial sources.

I mostly stopped watching since the ads have gotten so bad. We still watch some BritBox, which is an add on subscription but doesn’t have ads.
