I’m running internet to an out building 550’ from the main house. I’m going to trench an run conduit with pull strings and fiber. Do I just get regular multi it mode with sfp+ connectors on either end? Will my normal 10g switches be fine? Anything else I need to think about?
Should be fine. Just run multiple while you’re at it, so you have spares.
You might want to get some that are rated for outdoor use. I haven’t experienced this issue myself, but I imagine a fiber bathing in a water filled conduit 24/7 isn’t good long term.
Oh, and make sure your SFP+ transceivers are rated for that distance. 300m ones should be plenty.
