Not that big, but it would still be interesting. I pulled some honey locust from our firewood pile a few years back and incorporated it into a desk. It has a fairly boring grain pattern, but I like the color a lot.

    What are burls? Sry I’m not really into woodworking, just love following others work.

      Burls are a deformity in the tree (those round protruding bits on the trunk). They result in interesting grain patterns and are fairly rare, so they’re saught after by some wood workers.

      The middle is probably resin, but the sides are burl:

      They are growths on a tree that causes swirl grains. You see the bumps on the tree in OPs picture? Those are burls.

      I saw a bowl in Target that had fake burl wood. It’s going mainstream.
