An Arizona woman and member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was sentenced Thursday to house arrest and probation for her role in protecting the leader of a child sex ring from FBI investigation.

    Not that I care ‘at all’ about protecting religious buttheads, but how does this square against Spousal Privilege? Does that ONLY apply to testimony under oath, making it yet another effectively moot protection for citizens from an overzealous government?

    Again, not protecting the dude or the church. Fuck 'em, especially if they’ve done bad things (and the church has at least), though the fake pretense of freedom in this country is such a hilarious farce.

      Spousal privilege only applies to your legal spouse. Since you can’t legally marry more than one person, at best, only one of his wives can claim spousal privilege. It also doesn’t apply if the crime was committed against their children.
