Whatever happens in Ukraine at this point is pretty much whatever was going to happen to begin with. Russia has nukes. Ukraine does not have nukes nor does it have allies that have nukes. If Russia decides to pick up its ball and go home, it’s gonna make sure no one else can play either.

I think under a trump presidency the same result might happen faster and cheaper.

What Biden has a real chance to do is negotiate an end to this that ends up with fewer bodies, but he’s living in the delusion that this can end in a Ukrainian victory so he won’t do that. Actually if he’s coherent at all he might think that this is really juicing some defense company’s stock more than anything by having federal funds buying the Ukrainians more equipment.

This is an imperialist war by Russia to (re)vassalize their neighbor. Don’t be supporting the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine, or promoting defeatism here. Just because US = bad doesn’t mean Russia = good.

Oh I never said Russia was good. I’m not really sure there are any good sides here.

Anyone who’s taken a deep look into Ukrainian culture and recent history will notice their odd fetishization of Nazis because Nazis tried to help them secure independence from the Soviets because it was profitable (huge amounts of grain farmland), despite Nazis’ hatred of Slavs.

Russia is obviously being an imperialist power here, but it’s because of increased and illegal NATO expansion after the Cold War.

Obviously USA under the flag of NATO is an imperialist power because they want the grain land and chip manufacturing these days as well.

So while Ukrainian civilians are by and large innocent, they are caught up in something that’s been much bigger than them for a long time
