And so, working inside the paradigm that Orwell described, Biden exerts control over the present, strives to control narratives about the past, and seeks to make it all seem normal, prefiguring the future.
this has been true for a while and there’s no clearer evidence than social media. biden has over 50+ well documented years of fucking over vulnerable people of all stripes that’s freely and easily available via a 30 second google search, but social media; reddit and lemmy.world in particular; see him as a “good guy” simply because trump is worse.
he was literally too conservative to be voted for president when he tried in the 80’s and it never ceases to blow my mind that the overton window has shifted so far to the right that he’s now considered liberal despite never evolving on his politics.
