So Zack is now the 2nd foreigner after Kenny Omega to win the G1. He also announced in that speech above that unlike tradition (the G1 winner goes on the fight for the title on at WrestleKingdom on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome), he intends to challenge for the championship on October 14 at King of Pro-Wrestling instead.
That reallly sounds like “Ah shit we need to get the belt off Naito now cause his knees/eyes aren’t gonna make it to January”. My assumption is Zack’ll have the belt on his waste by Halloween.
Happy for Zack. I wasn’t really a fan of him but he slowly won me over with his performances during the tournament.
Naito on the other hand had was really bad. Time to get the belt away from him.
With his health issues the man just cannot crank out those great matches anymore. Which also really sucks cause Naito is just consistently over as shit and I can see him easily carrying the belt for a little while longer if he could, but given the KOPW announcement I cannot imagine him not dropping it to Zack in October.
