Really feels like the right move is to eliminate the pairs and just take the top 4 from the first round.

For real. Why isn’t that the case? We can end up with a champion who hit fewer homeruns.

It’s a double edged sword that the batter who goes first is so punished by the format. On the one hand, Julio hit almost twice as many as he actually needed to to advance, and going that hard in the first round clearly took a bit of a toll on him and negatively affected his second-round performance. But on the other hand, it was absolutely awesome to see him just unload like that in the first round, holy shit.

Bummed for my boy Adley. Mad respect tho for the switch hitting performance. He showed out.

Adley with the 3rd most and is eliminated, that’s the drawback of a bracket format.

Yeah, the bracket format is not good for getting the best winner. But it is fun.

Though, it’s almost too fast. They hit another ball before the first goes over the fence.

I went both days and the only things people were talking about on day 2 were JRod’s 41 (of course, it’s Seattle) and Adley’s switch hitting performance. Winning doesn’t seem to matter as much as showmanship and wow-factor. For the HR Derby, I’m good with that.

Adley’s dad threw him several junk pitches. I wonder if he cost his son the round.
