Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich implies he believes that blocking humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is “justified and moral” even if it causes 2 million civilians to die of hunger, adding however that the international community won’t allow this to happen.
I personally avoid “taking sides” (we have our own problems in Ukraine) in what wikipedia calls the Israel–Hamas war, but this is a full on open call for genocide.
Israel and Hamas are both bastards, but neither wholly represent their respective constituent citizenry, and no group ever deserves starvation or genocide. Not a complicated situation to identify as fucked.
I agree in principle with what you are saying, but this particular statement is very brutal considering this is an official statement from a senior Israeli government leader.

Hamas are reacting to a brutal occupation, they didn’t start this. Per international laws their actions are legal and justified.

I think they mean Smotrich is Ukrainian. According to Wikipedia he says his ancestors lived there.

Smotrich was born in Golan Heights and never seemed to have lived in Ukraine (and I am guessing he doesn’t speak Ukrainian?).

I always heard it as " if you go around thinking everybody is an asshole it’s probably you who is the problem."
Beelzalel Smotrich, ugh. I can’t fathom the mindset required to keep supporting Israel as it travels this path.
I wish more people would realize that what those in power do to the most disadvantaged among us, they will eventually do to the rest us, should we get in their way.
