In 1988, Professor Isaiah Leibovitz wrote “If this situation continues, the hooliganization — or should we even say the nazification — of the people and society in Israel, is inevitable”. Today, 35 years later, hooliganization has reached its peak: bullying is omnipresent, on the roads, on social media, in the vulgar speech of elected officials, and in every aspect of life in Israel. Violence reached its peak against Palestinians, even when comparing, in this year alone, the number of Israeli deaths resulting from terrorist attacks to dozens of Palestinian deaths that are not related to terrorism. The violence and bullying towards Palestinians by Jewish settlers is an everyday occurrence and is another horrific indication of the decline in the value of human life and human dignity that we are experiencing.

No. You cannot blame this on Judaism. I know many Jews, and many more Jews I don’t know, who have spoken against Israel and Zionism. Zionism is a racist and colonialist ideology.

Judaism, like all Abrahamic faiths, is a fundamentally broken view of the world that will inherently cause division. Remember the whole reason this situation exists is because all of the Abrahamic dipshits involves think Israel is “the holy land”

Just because it’s your favorite flavor doesn’t mean it isn’t kool aid

I hate to make this about myself but I admin !arabianpaganism@lemm.ee for a reason. Just because I don’t believe in Abrahamic tradition and monotheism doesn’t mean I can go making up shit about it.

The whole situation exists because of colonialism, geopolitics, access to resources, trade routes and so on. Empires since the Greeks, Achaemenids and Romans fought over this land. A historical and material analysis might guide you here.

The founders of the Zionist movement were atheists.

The surveyed individuals included 160 women and 159 men who constitute a representative sample of the population aged 18 to 69.

This is a tiny sample, easily cherry picked (for example by picking people obviously more hardcore religious…). Highly doubt it accurately describes the whole country. Gotta try to find the actual study to see if it looks a bit better than this article…

“The country” is not the people. Israel is home to a multitude of peoples, many of which do not identify with what the government is doing.

Over 90% of Israeli Jews agree with the genocide in Gaza, the only opposition comes from the 20% or so Palestinian population (Israeli Arabs).

Hm OK. I’m not aware of these numbers. My only interactions with Israelis is immigrants and travellers, so I guess I have a strong bias.

The title is ambiguous enough to be read as “men don’t recognize women raping them as rape”, when in fact it is men who don’t consider the rape of a female acquaintance as actual rape.

    Just a point of confusion.

Note: The original title did not say “Israeli” I edited the post to include it to make it clear. The article does mention “Israeli” and makes it clear who is intended. The title might have been confusing since this is posted in !palestine@lemm.ee. Posts about the hooliganism in Israeli society are relevant to the Palestinian struggle. Specially as more incidents of rape of Palestinians in Israeli prisons are reported.
