Blackalicious was an American hip-hop duo from Sacramento, California, made up of rapper Gift of Gab and DJ/producer Chief Xcel. They are noted for Gift of Gab’s often tongue-twisting, multisyllabic, complex rhymes and Chief Xcel’s soulful production. The duo released four full-length albums: Nia in 1999, Blazing Arrow in 2002, The Craft in 2005, and Imani Vol. 1 in 2015. Gift of Gab died in June 2021.

I was really sad when Gift of Gab passed in 2021. Both Nia and Blazing Arrow got a lot of playtime when I was a teen.

Ah yeah also a nice album! This has also jogged my memory of some of the other Quannum MC’s like Lyrics Born and Lateef. Haven’t listened to them for a long time

Center in the middle of my inner with a riddle

Smoke a penner put a little bit of ginger in my dinner meal

Feeling ill stealing the show like a criminal

Cleaning out the mucus in your grill like benadryl

    Damn!

This is some nice stuff; I don’t think I have heard of them before, and if I did, I don’t remember!

I had to download some of those M4A files so as to add them to my playlist!

This song is about how shallow most rap and hip hop music is today, and how we should be careful what we say because it influences people’s behaviour, especially children.
