Sylvia Rivera, born on July 2 in 1951, was a Latina American queer rights activist, member of the Gay Liberation Front, and community worker from the state of New York.

Rivera, who identified as a “half-sister”, participated in demonstrations with the Gay Liberation Front. With her close friend Marsha P. Johnson, Rivera co-founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), a socialist group dedicated to helping homeless young drag queens, gay youth, and trans women.

At different times in her life, Rivera battled substance abuse and lived on the streets, largely in the gay homeless community at the Christopher Street docks. Her experiences made her more focused on advocacy for those who, in her view, mainstream society and the assimilationist factions of the LGBT community were leaving behind.

Rivera died during the dawn hours of February 19th, 2002, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, of complications from liver cancer. Activist Riki Wilchins said this of her: “In many ways, Sylvia was the Rosa Parks of the modern transgender movement, a term that was not even coined until two decades after Stonewall”.

the group chat is lit this week, i have been yelling at everyone who campaigned for warren or pete that this is exactly what they campaigned for. they are denying it but they know it’s true, there is pain in their words and hesitancy in their denial and defenses. they are even struggling to defend the Dems and DNC in general, it’s never been more joever

Radlibs when Joe Biden kills about a hundred thousand Palestinian children and a hundred thousand adults:

Radlibs when Keir Starmer is in talks with GCs:

Why is the lesser evil tolerable when they’re committing genocide against Palestinians, but when they’re a TERF that’s too far? And it’s crazy because as we’ve pointed out in here about 100 times, Joe Biden does not care about trans people and has done absolutely nothing about the transphobic policies being enacted in red states. Why does he get a pass? Does Labor just not have bot farms?

There is something about House of the Dragon. It has a higher budget per episode, and reuses a lot of the same sets, yet it looks worse than GoT, like there is this weird filter and lighting on everything. I’ve seen people say it looks kind of like a porn parody of GoT

Hexbear is a Marxist-Leninist-bonapartist, not the napoleon one though, this is another napoleon he’s from vietnam, wrote like three pamphlets about digging ditches and then burned down a local post office, which he thought harbored american GI’s. He did this in the 90’s, the dude was integral to leftist thought in my high school.

One of the shames of there being no Fallout 4 equivalent of New Vegas, is that Fallout 4 has a whole host of clean textures for clothes, furniture, buildings, trees etc. You could do the post-post-apocalypse setting of a place like Vault City from Fallout 2, unlike New Vegas where they said in dialogue the NCR had trucks but could only ever show wrecks.

I have gotten a good night’s sleep in three weeks. Between starting a new schedule, my dog hurting herself and needing care, taking family members places, its just been late night and early morning after another without pause. I’ve had to stop on the side of the road to nap because I couldn’t keep my eyes open, I’ve passed out during tabletop role-playing sessions, I keep passing out as soon as I get home from school or work, only to wake up still tired, do my homework, and then try and fail to go to bed at a normal time.

Right now I’m fucking dead tired, it’s 330 am, and I haven’t been able to sleep at all despite trying since about midnight. My dog’s been keeping me awake because she had surgery today and she’s crying and there’s no way I can sleep while listening to that. Maybe if I’m lucky she’ll fall asleep and then I’ll be able to get a single REM cycle before I have to get up.

hopefully ranting on the Internet helps a bit. good night y’all.

Anyone here like to see Nazis’ private communications get leaked? The artist Luke Turner was the target of an antisemitic harassment campaign by DC Miller and Nina Power, and it got to the point where he took them to court and actually won. The evidence from the case was apparently just now made public and Turner has excerpted the best/worst parts of their chats and secret twitter accounts: (content warnings for Nazism, antisemitism, racism, transphobia, ableism, really lots of stuff): https://luketurner.com/Nina_Power/

I think my favorite part is Nina Power writing in private that feminist academia has made her a Nazi while publicly claiming that support for trans people is misogyny. Really laying bare the TERF-to-Nazi pipeline there. On that note, her brave defender Kathleen Stock has reacted to this reveal of her commitment to fascism by reiterating that she has her full support. All in all, it’s good to see that the courts sometimes can do the right thing and that another Nazi has gone bankrupt.
