Joking about trans suicide = joking about trans suicide. It didn’t go over my head, you just didn’t understand why I objected to it.

Including X in a joke about Y does not make the joke about X.

      You didn’t get it.

            a·bout

            preposition

            1. on the subject of; concerning.

This meme is on the subject of and concerning trans suicide, it is, objectively, a joke about trans suicide.

The subject of the joke is transphobes thinly veiling their transphobia.

Your logic would say this joke is about Spiderman, which is absurd.

A meme can be about multiple things. If Spiderman was a sensitive topic to vulnerable populations being used as a punchline to score political points, then I would be objecting to including Spiderman like that. But that’s not the case. Instead it’s trans suicide that’s being used insensitively, as a punchline to score political points, which is why I objected to it. Because I don’t consider the topic of trans suicide and appropriate subject matter to joke about, or to include references to in a joke “about” something else.

So you’re genuinely doubling down and saying this joke is about Spiderman. Thats ridiculous.

But let’s remember that you’ve also asserted that liking a meme means advocating for anything it includes. So by your logic, I’m a huge fan of Spiderman, glasses, blue wallpaper, and shirtlessness. Such sound reasoning!

This sort of disingenuousness is the reason I had to scream at you for 30 comments to get you approach the topic at all reasonably. If you’re going to go back to blatant bad faith like that, we can go back to screaming at each other.

Yes, this joke is about Spiderman insofar as it contains a reference to Spiderman, it’s about Hexbear insofar as it contains a reference to Hexbear, and it’s about trans suicide insofar as it contains a reference to trans suicide. I already cited the definition of the word “about” so stop pretending you don’t know how language works.

Does liking a meme mean advocating everything it includes? I never said it, despite your false claim that I did. But I would say that it means you don’t find anything particularly objectionable about it. You don’t find anything objectionable about a meme format referencing Spiderman, you don’t find anything objectionable about using trans suicide as a punchline, etc.
