Making your own tofu? That’s some next tier veganism there, not sure if I’ll be able to level up to reach it ever ;) How is it compared to the store bought one?
It’s way better fresh! The taste on its own is nice and light, and it’s much easier to season when it is fresh (compared to marinating prepared tofu) since you can put your seasonings right there in the mold with the curds. Once I made a batch with basil and sun-dried tomato in it, so good 🧑🍳👌
Really not that hard to make, just takes some time :)
I just realized that I had no idea how tofu is actually made - other than that it’s from soy.
Looks great!
Thanks!
I am not vegan, but I like tofu and would definitely be interested in hearing your process and any tips/tricks you learned.
@claymedia @LeanFemurs I like to press it, cover with cornflour, and put on baking tray with a little oil and bake in the oven until it goes crisp then add to a curry or stir fry 🙂
@LeanFemurs I’ve always wanted to try to make my own, but just haven’t done it yet. It looks great!
Thanks! This was my third attempt and I’m finally happy with the result.
Eating some of it now with some noodles, it’s really great! Fresh is so much better than manufactured. Don’t put it off, give it a try :)
I’ve always wanted to try making my own as well—will definitely have to try this!
Oh wow, nice. Do you have a link of something in case we would like to try too?
I used this one: https://www.thespruceeats.com/how-to-make-tofu-1001574
Neat! Are the coagulants used in tofu making easy to get a hold of in shops? I’d love to make some!
