There’s a book made the xkcd author, where he ponders on random questions. One of them was wondering what would happen if people DID have a soul mate (and could immediately tell at a glance).

Even if people did, we’d have a astronomically low chance of ever successfully finding the right person. So low in fact, that trying to find them at random by just living a normal life would yield very little different results from trying to intentionally forcing the issue in a widespread, concentrated effort using apps where people just spend 2 seconds looking at each other and then skip to the next pair.

So even if we did… Most people would basically assume it is an hoax, or would lie about it. Unless if society on the whole suddenly and magically accepted the existence of soulmates, the people who would find theirs would just be considered to be delusional.

In fact… Maybe we do have one after all. But you’ll never find yours.
