hi,
I have been suffering from anxiety and was thinking about past bad things that happened to me and by me. I can’t forgive myself for what I did and neither I can forgive who did bad things to me. also I keep thinking about stuff that is out of my control and power.
so I came up with a solution whenever that happens I also think myself as powerless and can’t do anything. it makes me accepts things as they are. plus it makes me expect help from others.
Sounds similar to “radical acceptance”, which has helped with my anxiety for a long time.
I didn’t know about “radical acceptance”.
if someone also didn’t know: https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-radical-acceptance-5120614
The way I survive my shitty internal thought processes is essentially this, but I think of it more as fatalism.
Things be as they be and usually there ain’t shit fuck all I can do about it, so I accept that.
It’s good and healthy to accept that some things are outside your control, but only for things that actually are. If you start applying that mentality to things where you aren’t actually helpless, it could hurt your self-esteem over time.
I will keep that in mind.
