Men have had AI girlfriends for a long time now for very similar reasons to women (dissatisfaction with the opposite sex, lack of understanding from the opposite sex, lack of opportunity, loneliness, time, …).

AI partners are filling a very real need and it won’t be long before physical AI partners come along. I bet that once women start having relationships with sex toys / sex puppets, the entire discussion about how ethical it is (like when France introduced an AI brothel and the ensuing uproar) will disappear.

To go black mirror: imagine AI sex puppets with artificial wombs and donated eggs, or AI sex puppets with donated sperm. People could have real relationships that result in children. Even more black mirror were using genetic material grown from oneself (using pluripotent cells) and modifying the genes to make them different.

We wouldn’t be doomed as a species if that were to happen, because if we didn’t allow procreation with AI birth rates would drop even faster.
