Very interesting sprint race. Battles everywhere you look.

VER comfortably ahead after an early scare, PER scraping through into 2nd.

RUS and HUL making good strategy calls salvaged their races for them.

LEC a touch unlucky in the pits messed up his attack. Getting tangled up with OCO didn’t help. SAI looked rock solid but unimaginative, just held on for dear life and drove to a podium.

STR really should have given ALO that place, every point counts if anyone is going to have even an outside chance of attacking VER for the championship.

OCO being his usual bullheaded self made him 7th, RUS raced him to the line and was 9 thousandths of a second behind.

    Very entertaining. 8/10.

Good sprint indeed. Hulkenberg, unlike most pitting, really risked losing a few important points – in the end he almost hauled back both Alonso and Stroll. Don’t think that 1 point for Alonso would improve his chances towards attacking Verstappen, but Perez is still in sight for him.

ALO could be fighting VER if RUS has anything to say about it. 😛😛😛

But seriously the summer break might bring positive changes for the other teams so staying in the fight is important.

Battle between the bulls for the first few corners was genuinely entertaining. Perez running Verstappen wide defensively was interesting to see. Also good move by Perez into turn one to establish his lead.

As a viewer, Verstappen failing to turn at any point into T3 felt a bit ludicrous. I didn’t get to see an onboard of his hands on the wheel. Would have liked that.

I wish RB had a young guy trying to make his name rather than Perez. There would have been more sparks into T3 if so.

Then we could have seen a REALLY interesting battle for the sprint win.

Not upset about any of it. Fun sprint to watch.

if anyone is going to have even an outside chance of attacking VER for the championship.

Verstappen is casually pulling a pit stop gap on people during a sprint. I don’t think anybody has an outside chance for the championship

Who knows? A pack of lemurs might kidnap him before the end of the season. Got to keep fighting eh?

Would argue that STR needs his points too. ALO has no hope of beating VER this year.

I’m very curious still, where HUL would have landed if he hadn’t pitted though. I think maybe he should have stayed out.

Actually a very enjoyable sprint! I still prefer regular race weekends, but the last minute pitstops were an exciting mixup. George seems pretty good with his strategy, too bad he couldn’t find an extra tenth at the end. Oh and poor Lando losing so many positions in one corner lap 1. I hope he gets a podium this year.

Yeah, but if it had more laps, everyone would have boxed and we wouldn’t have had the race we had.

I do agree though, that was wonderful.

First sprint race I enjoyed watching, but that’s just the wet to dry condition that makes everything interesting. The Stroll - Alonso fight was interesting to see though, I’m curious to see how the future plays out in Aston Martin now.

I really don’t understand why Perez ruined the good thing he’s got at Red Bull for a sprint race of all things though. Racing eachother is fine, but trying to push your golden goose teammate of the track on a straight is so dumb. Especially if you’re already under scrutiny for not being able to get into Q3 in a car that people are vocally complaining about being too strong. (And thus all those people are implying that Perez is washed)

The sprint format helped here. For a full length race, it would be a no brainer to put for slicks, but instead we had a gamble to stay in inters and hold on vs lose track position but gain a lot of pace. Very exciting.

The McLaren update looks good for quali so far but maybe not as strong in the race, have to see in a dry race first I suppose. Can’t wait to see if the supposed big Mercedes upgrades in Silverstone are any good!

Dammit… I tried to wake up for it but didn’t end up happening.

How was the race? Does it bode well for the main race?

Finally a sprint race to enjoy, even with half a lap as a challenge for VER. All in all I still not like the sprint weekend. If it wasn’t for the wet track this race would have been boring.

So happy for HUL to get points and a good race. Race could have been even 2 laps longer.

As a cricket guy I feel like the sprints compared to the full race is the same as T20 compared to tests. And I really dislike T20. But the sprints are so good! This seemed like the perfect track for it too and the wet only helped the excitement.

This is why Bernie wasn’t completely mad when he suggested sprinklers.
