    Hurley turned down Kentucky’s 90-100m for 8 years. Lakers’ will have to top that by a good margin.

      Yeah the Lakers aren’t flush with cash like some other owners so they must be confident he’s their coach now and for a rebuild post-Lebron if they’re going to make a compelling offer.

      Topping $100m/8 would put his salary in Pop/Spo territory and would likely take a longer term to get him to accept which means it will be costly if things don’t workout.

        Actually Lakers are one of the most profitable franchises in the league because of the size of their following. Coaches’ salaries do not count towards salary cap as well so they can afford it. For instance their operating income was 159m last year. They can afford to pay Hurley $12-15m per.

          Yeah think I was thinking of some articles I’ve read that the Lakers income is like the sole income for the Buss children compared to some of these billionaire owners but you’re right the franchises income is one of the highest in the league and should be enough to pay him.
