Outlook
The Wolves had a turnaround year this season after having a poor 1st year after the Gobert trade. They were able to knock out the defending champions and were riding high going into the conference finals until the Mavs quickly dispatched them in 5 games.
The loss will have the Wolves go into the offseason with questions on how to improve the roster. Any upgrades will need to come by trade given they are well over the cap and likely over the 2nd apron as well next season which will greatly limit their ability to conduct trades. The Jazz control the Wolves picks through 2030 either by owning them or through pick swaps. This will mean that any trade will involve a key piece going out as well.
Despite these challenges Wolves fans will see this season as a massive win given the teams challenging history. Anthony Edwards made a big leap this year and the team made it out of the 1st round for only the 2nd time in team history. If he can continue to improve and they’re able to switch some pieces for the right players they can look to make an even stronger run next year.
Seen from a couple sources that despite the social media talk about moving KAT, it’s likely the team will keep him at least another season and see how things shake out.
I have my doubts about KAT but it would be tough to move him for a better player since they don’t have much for assets to include if they want a clear upgrade.
