I was thinking of using my Xbox 360 hardware, the Box, as sort of like a case for my gaming PC. I plan on preserving its hardware, circuit board, hard drive and such, but I was curious if this is even possible?
Like, can I take out the circuit board, install fresh PC components that I picked up, install it into the box once everything is out. Using this as a normal PC. I also understand about the Fans, power consumption, and you know… Just wondering on your thoughts if I should do this, if it’s a good idea or what.
Thanks!
You could probably fit something inside the chassis, but why? It doesn’t have standard mounting hardware for any ATX form factor, you’ll need to source a slim PSU, and at the end of the day, without a ton of effort to make the build work, and additional thought put into the cooling (etc) you’re going to destroy a working console for a pretty average result with a lot of trade-offs.
TL;DR, bad idea. You can do better.
That is a very cool idea. You’ll have to keep us updated if you decide to go through with it.
It’s not impossible but it’s work. There are plenty examples to find. Just look up Xbox 360 Sleepers.
