I’m tired of carving new burial chambers or adding to the existing mass grave and was thinking of recycling what I already have. The problem is those tombs are already in use.

Will my guys be cool with their friends and family returning to the earth via magma incinerators?

I think as long as you put a slab somewhere they will be fine (they might get negative thoughts from moving the bodies to though)

I don’t know, but i solved this problem with headcanon. I started putting coffins/slabs in the twisting caves you get left over from auto-miming veins of materials. I decided my dwarves had a philosophy around death that to honour the corpse you should just return it to the mountain. I called them grave veins. I liked the natural pattern and I almost never smoothed the stone or decorated. The lore was supported by being a war minded fort built into a volcano.

Of course I made a few exceptions for nobility, and occasionally I’d mark a particularly interesting death with a carving. But it was a pretty low maintenance system and i like the natural looking results. I’d carve little 2 block slots the sides of the mined out vein to pop a coffin and a slab, and kept it all rough. It looks like capillaries spreading out.

I’ve tried this before in a older release. This is how you get ghosts and hauntings. Highly recommend this disposal method for extra FUN!
