Curious to see if this is a “me” thing or not. so does anyone else when they make a new mate become like low key obsessed for a bit? or not obsessed but like, the social anxiety just dial up a couple of notches? just for like the first couple of days of the proper mateship. Then it always settles down. Like every time your phone buzzes your like “Oh, I hope its X person”. and when they take a bit to reply you go “Oh, did I message them too many times? did I say something weird?” when you know they’re probs just busy.

For sure man. I don’t really have family so friendships are really important to me. I defs get all in my head about it when I’m connecting with someone new

ABSOLUTELY! people think your intense. And its hard to explain to someone “No, I just feel more strongly about you than you probs do about me”. Still stings when they kind of prove that though hey.

It’s tough man. For me, I generally expect nothing from other people, which helps temper my excitement to a degree.

In a way, it’s pessimistic, but after some of my experiences, its less shitty to think that way.

I’m a slow boil. I’ll be interacting with someone for ages before I suddenly realise one day they’ve made the move from acquaintance to friend.

So, no. For me it’s more a sudden realisation after a bit. I’m reminded somewhat of the way my wife and I started dating here.

The cat has been real picky lately. Turned his nose up at his usual wet food, so I’ve been trying other brands/flavours.

Seem to have settled on salmon paté, and will try the salmon in gravy later on.

    Finicky, picky little Mickey

Edit: the accused in question, all comfy on my partner’s legs

Sometimes Melbcat isn’t too excited about her wet food but will eat it with a meal topper of some cracker crumbs, or a couple of treats sprinkled on top. (I know carbs make cats chubby and are bad for their teeth, I’m just being very indulgent because of her age.)

I have tried putting some treats on top, but he’s too smart and won’t have it lol.

He’s been gobbling up the paté, so I think that’s a winner for now.

I had my covid booster yesterday. Free from Chemist Warehouse (probably lots of other places too), got an easy online booking within 48 hours, was straight in and out when I got there and the pharmacist was lovely. No side effects except a sore arm.

Hospitalisations are rising again, get on it if you’re due for a jab (if it’s been more than 12 months).

You might not need to get a jab because you recently caught covid.

It think it was recommended that you get a booster 6 months after you catch covid.

Clearance Kmart sketch kit arrived yesterday. The first thing I cracked into was the sandpaper sharpening board. It’s really small and the wooden backing is chipboard but it’s a vast improvement on trying to smooth/taper pencil leads with a pack of emery boards. (Doable but awkward and very easy to start honing at the wrong angle. They were previously all that was on hand and it was a hassle to buy sandpaper alone.)

I have a ton of crows in my back yard having some sort of cawing competition. Is this a sign of something? Should I be worried? I’ve also had a black cat cross my path…

The crows are definitely a rare event where I am, although the black cat is a regular occurrence. Usually she is trying to trip me up.

There have also been a lot of cockies around lately, probably related to the liquidambar seeds everywhere. Maybe it’s some sort of bird war?

Well, it’s late autumn and the food sources are about to dry up (unless you’re a raven and like maccas and burger offcuts). I suspect all this gathering is a social thing where they’re dividing up territories amongst themselves for the winter.

Probably. The cracked mirror could be the giveaway. Better throw some salt over your left shoulder just in case. Preferably outside to save on vacuuming.

A place I was in in Sydney the landlord painted the whole building with a plastic coat sort of thing. Suddenly mould everywhere! The people downstairs lost everything they owned it was that bad.

They just spackle over it and next time it rains water comes right through again. One time they did go up to the roof and said it was some issue with water getting under the flashing due to the join of units.

If anyone remembers an old tool song called Pushit and wants to hear a not bad version I did the other night, there’s the link.

I used to perform singing and playing guitar for a couple of years when I got sober, but stopped singing and focused on guitar.

Trying to get back into it now. Always open to criticism, constructive or otherwise!
