As a technical user… I’m not sure if I’m more embarrassed that I used to do this in younger days… or that I now look for the ‘for dummies’ version of any subject I’m interested in.
In my experience, that’s totally normal. You get the first kind of books for display, then actually learn using the “for dummy” version (or Wikipedia page)!
Bonus point if your “hard looking” books are in a sturdy wooden bookshelf.
